West End Dreamgirls Will Receive Original Cast Recording
Producers of the West End debut of Dreamgirls have just announced the show will receive an Original London Cast Recording slated to be released in Spring 2017.
Sony Classical is set to release the original cast recording which is slated to premiere in mid-April. The recording will be a double album that was recorded during a live performance at the Savoy Theatre, where Dreamsgirls is currently making its London premiere. The album is produced by Henry Krieger and mixed by Andy Bradfield. Dreamgirls began performances in November 2016 with direction and choreography by Tony and Olivier Award winner Casey Nicholaw. While there has been no official confirmation at this time, the New York Post reported Dreamgirls will transfer to Broadway next season following its critically acclaimed run in London. The show recently extended its run in London through October 2017.
The cast of Dreamgirls includes Amber Riley as Effie White, Liisi LaFontaine as Deena Jones, and Ibinabo Jack as Lorrell Robinson. Other leads include Joe Aaron Reid as Curtis Taylor Jr, Adam J. Bernard as Jimmy Early, Tyrone Huntley as C.C. White, Nicholas Bailey as Marty, and Lily Frazer as Michelle Morris. The ensemble includes Michael Afemaré, Jocasta Almgill, Callum Aylott, Hugo Batista, Samara Casteallo, Chloe Chambers, Carly Mercedes Dyer, Joelle Dyson, Kimmy Edwards, Candace Furbert, Nathan Graham, Ashley Luke Lloyd, Gabriel Mokake, Siân Nathaniel-James, Sean Parkins, Kirk Patterson, Ryan Reid, Rohan Richards, Noel Samuels, Durone Stokes, and Tosh Wanogho-Maud. The rest of the creative team for London’s Dreamgirls includes Tim Hatley as scenic designer, Tony Award winner Gregg Barnes as costume designer, Hugh Vanstone as lighting designer and Richard Brooker as sound designer. Josh Marquette provides a hair design.
