Significant Other Opens On Broadway
Roundabout Theatre Company’s critically acclaimed Significant Other, first seen Off-Broadway in 2015, officially opens on Broadway tonight.
Significant Other officially opens tonight on Broadway after beginning previews February 14th at The Booth Theatre (Pictured Right). The show comes to Broadway following an Off-Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company’s Laura Pels Theatre from May 2015 to August 2015. The play is written by Joshua Harmon who makes his Broadway debut with the transfer. The piece follows the lives of four college friends, three girls and one boy, as they navigate New York in their twenty-something years dealing with friendship, love and loss.
The cast is mostly made up of those who first appeared in the Off-Broadway production. Reprising their roles are Gideon Glick as Jordan Berman, Oscar and Tony Award nominee Barbara Barrie as Helene Berman, John Behlmann as Will/Conrad/Tony, Sas Goldberg as Kiki, Lindsay Mendez as Laura and Luke Smith as Zach/Evan/Roger. Joining the company for the Broadway bow is Rebecca Naomi Jones as Vanessa.
Significant Other is directed by Trip Cullman with choreography by Sam Pinkleton. The rest of the creative team includes Tony Award nominee Mark Wendland as scenic designer, Kaye Voyce as costume designer, Tony Award nominee Japhy Weideman as lighting designer, and Daniel Kluger as sound designer.
LUNER LOWDOWN: Significant Other should be required viewing for any twenty-something living in New York. Joshua Harmon manages to perfectly capture the true essence of young adults in the years just after college trying to navigate friendship, relationships and the world of New York. The piece is breathtaking. It’s remarkable in the sense that you feel personally connected to the characters on stage more than likely because you’re seeing moments of your life play out on stage right in front of you. I was thrilled to be able to experience this new piece and would revisit it again in a heartbeat. It speaks. It bleeds. And as you’ll find out, so does love.
Don’t miss your chance to experience Joshua Harmon’s Significant Other on Broadway at The Booth Theatre! The show is currently slated for an open-ended run with tickets now available through July.
