Wagner College Theatre Presents Titanic

All ashore who are going ashore! Wagner College Theatre kicks off its spring 2017 season with the Tony Award winning musical Titanic on it’s Main Stage. The production runs February 23rd through March 5th, 2017 on the Main Stage in Main Hall at Wagner College.

Titanic returns to port at Wagner College highly anticipated after first being staged at the college in 2002 by Drew Scott Harris (Pictured Right). Harris returns to Wagner to recreate his work for this incarnation with a cast, crew and orchestra of over 70 people. Titanic premiered on Broadway in 1997 and went on to win 5 Tony Awards including the musical theatre triple crown for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score. The musical played over 800 performances at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and is based off of the true events that occurred April 15th, 1912 when the Titanic sank after striking an iceberg on it’s maiden voyage. The musical features music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone.

As previously mentioned, Drew Scott Harris returns to Wagner as director for Titanic with musical staging by Carissa Bellando (WCT ’04) and music direction by Dr. Lauri Young. The rest of the creative team includes Phill Hickox as set designer, Polly Kendrick as costume designer, Vicki Neal as lighting designer, Richard Kroth as sound designer and Joanna Catalano as hair/wig/makeup designer. Anabel Caba is production stage manager. Mara Gannon is dialect coach.

ACL-Wagner134Wagner College Theatre is a nationally ranked college theatre program located at Wagner College on Staten Island in New York City. The theatre program, which has been around since the 1960′s, has worked its way up to become one of the top ranked theatre programs by The Princeton Review. It has remained in the Top 5 Programs for the past 10+ years. The program boosts a wonderful list of alumni and produces eight productions a year with four on the Main Stage and four in the Stage One Studio. Now into it’s spring season, the rest of the Wagner College theatre season includes The Dance Project, running February 28th through March 5th, and Stupid F@%king Bird, running April 25th through April 30th, in the Stage One Studio Theatre. On the Main Stage, Wagner present’s the Tony Award winning La Cage Aux Folles April 20th through April 30th, 2017.

Wagner College Theatre’s Titanic sets sail tomorrow night on the Main Stage with performances running February 23rd through March 5th, 2017!
