Tony Award-Nominated Hand To God Comes To Philly
Philadelphia Theatre Company continues its 2016-2017 season with the Tony Award-nominated comedy “Hand to God“ by Robert Askins running March 31 through April 30, 2017. Previews begin March 31st before the production officially opens April 6th.
An all-Philadelphia cast takes the stage for the Philly premiere of the stage which features Grace Gonglewski as Margery, Alex Keiper as Jessica, Aubie Merrylees (Pictured Right) as Jason/Tyrone, Matteo Scammell as Timothy and William Zielenski as Pastor Greg. Matt Pfeiffer helms the production team as director with Robert Smythe as puppet designer and puppet movement director. The rest of the creative team includes Brian Sidney Bembridge as scenic designer and Allison Roberts as costume designer making their PTC debuts with the production. Other creative team members include Thom Weaver as lighting designer, Daniel Perelstein as sound designer who is also penning original music for the piece and J. Alex Cordaro is fight director who are PTC veterans.
Philadelphia Theatre Company was founded in 1974 and produces, develops and presents contemporary theatre focused on the American experience. Through their performances new works, commissions, readings and workshops, Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) strives to generate a national impact and reach broad regional audiences in the Philadelphia area. Under Executing Producing Director Sara Garonzik since 1982, PTC has participated in more than 140 world and Philadelphia premieres. The company has received over 180 Barrymore Award nominations and gone on to win 57. PTC is located at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, located on the Avenue of the Arts, which opened in OCtober 2007. It’s location is contributed to the revitalization of Philadelphia’s growing arts district.
Throughout the run of Hand To God, Philadelphia Theatre Company will offer various special events to take place at the theater following performances. A Meet-the-Artists talkback will occur on April 13th and April 27th following the evening performances where members of the cast and creative team will join the audience for a discussion. On April 22nd, you can join the PTC staff for tour of the set and backstage following the matinee performance. A Special Topics Event will be held April 18th while an American Playwrights in Contest event is in the works to be scheduled for some point during the run.
