Screen Shot 2014-10-30 at 12.19.53 AMThe spring 2014 season is beginning to book up on Broadway! A brand new show has just been announced for the spring season and lucky for us, it’s a musical! While musicals usually dominate the Broadway spring season, it is looking to be a heavy straight play season on Broadway with only a sprinkling of new musicals. However, many of those musicals are looking to be brand new works including the one just announced! Today, Luner on Theatre brings you the exciting news that It Shouda Been You will play Broadway this spring!

It Shoulda Been You is a musical which features book and lyrics by Brian Hargrove with music by Anselmi. Additional lyrics are also provided by Jill Abramovitz, Carla Rose Fisher, Michael Cooper, Ernie Lijoi and Will Randall. The musical tells the hilarious story of a wedding gone ary. Two families, from completely different backgrounds,c clash as they come together to celebrate a wedding. However, when the bride’s ex-boyfriend arrives, the wedding comes to a halt and chaos ensues. I’m very excited that this new musical will make it’s way to Broadway this spring! I remember hearing about It Shoulda Been You back during it’s premiere in 2011 and most recently as of last season when the talk of a Broadway bow was being discussed. While I don’t know much about this production overall, I’m definitely excited to see a new piece of musical theatre headed to Broadway this spring. The cast line up is excellent with some major Broadway names and with David Hyde Pierce as director, I’m sure this will be a fantastic new work. I’m also happy to see this head into a theatre perfect for what the size of this show seems to be. Smaller musicals playing the Atkinson have usually worked out pretty well for those productions.
