Tony Time: Nominations for Best Costume Design of a Musical (Photos)

What would Broadway’s big musicals be without their big costume designs?! Nothing! The costume design of a Broadway musical truly creates magic on stage. Many times, the actors in these productions will make dozens of costume changes throughout one performance alone. However, the costume design truly brings a person into the piece they are performing and works together with the scenic design to create the overall feel of the show for the audience. This year, Broadway has seen some truly amazing works on the performers as costume designers outdid themselves creating beautiful works for performers to wear and change into night after night. Today, Luner on Theatre brings you a first look at the Tony nominated best costume designs for this year’s musicals!

Linda Cho – A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

All stunning costumes! All of these pieces are incredibly unique to each production and that show’s specific style. I do have to mention, I am upset that Gregg Barnes did not make the nominations list this year after he created over 300 original works for Disney’s Aladdin. I do believe his work was worthy of a nomination if not the awards itself. However, I do congratulate those nominated this year for their designs! Visit Luner on Theatre’s Tony Time Page for all articles relating to this year’s Tony Awards Ceremony! For more information, visit The Tony Awards Official WebsiteAnd of course, check out the rest of Luner on Theatre for all your theatre news you don’t only need but want to know and so much more!
