Willkommen Back: Cabaret (Photos)
Luner on Theatre has been so wrapped up in bringing you the 2014 theatre awards season, we realized we never finished bringing you a look at all of this season’s current productions! Dont mind us! The infamous 1998 Roundabout Theatre Company production of Cabaret has returned to Broadway led by the same ever amazing Alan Cumming with some new talent and a couple of tweaks to the old production. Featuring a book by Joe Masteroff with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, the musical takes place in Berlin during the rise of the Nazi’s. Despite a looming love story and the battle for the Emcee to be who he truly sees himself as, it’s hard to be yourself when the eyes of the Nazi’s are always watching your every move. The 2014 revival stars Alan Cumming as the Emcee and Michelle Williams as Sally Bowles. Today, Luner on Theatre brings you a first look at the Broadway revival of Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Cabaret!
Cabaret is officially open on Broadway! The production was the final show of the 2013-2014 Broadway season to open on April 24th, 2014 at Studio 54. The show is directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes with co-direction and choreography by Rob Marshall. While the show was originally a limited engagement, it has since extended until January 4th, 2015 at Studio 54. Don’t miss the chance to experience the Kit Kat Klub first hand at Studio 54!
