Tony Time: 2014 Tony Award Nominations Announced

The 2014 Tony Awards season officially kicked off this morning! Following a week of nominations from Outer Critics, the Drama League and Drama Desk, the highly anticipated Tony Award nominations were announced this morning! Jonathan Groff and Liu announced the nominations LIVE from the Paramount Hotel in Times Square! Now the countdown to Broadway’s biggest and most celebrated night in theatre is on! But first, who was nominated this year?! Today, Luner on Theatre brings you the full list of the 2014 Tony Award Nominations!

This morning, Luner on Theatre attended the 2014 Tony Award nominations LIVE at the Paramount Hotel in Times Square! We sat second row to watch Jonathan Groff and Lucy Liu read the list of nominations for the 2013-2014 Broadway season! As if the anticipation wasn’t enough, Hugh Jackman, who is set to host the 2014 Tony Awards, made a surprise appearance bursting on stage leaving the audience overjoyed to see him back on board for Broadway’s biggest night.

Congratulations to all of those nominated for a 2014 Tony Award! This year alone on Broadway, there were 44 new productions that graced the Great White White. 16 musicals, 25 plays and 3 special events have helped to make it another success year for Broadway in New York City. Leading the Tony Award nominations, once again, is A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder which received 10 nominations. Hedwig And The Angry Inch, led by Broadway vet Neil Patrick Harris, scored second place with 8 nominations. Third place was split among several productions as Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Twelfth Night and The Glass Menagerie all scored 7 nominations.
