South Pacific at Paper Mill Playhouse (Photos)
Some Enchanted Evening! South Pacific, which features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan, is now in performances at Paper Mill Playhouse. The musical tells a romantic story during World War II on a tropical island. An American stationed in the South Pacific falls in love with a French plantation owner but struggles to accept his children who are mixed races. Another American falls in love with an Asian woman he meets yet he worries about the consequences of loving someone of a different race. The musical discusses love but also talks about the racial boundaries of it and how they only exist to those willing to see them. Today, Luner on Theatre brings you a first at Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of South Pacific!
South Pacific began performances April 9th at Paper Mill Playhouse! The show is scheduled to run until May 4th, 2014! South Pacific is directed Rob Ruggiero. It is the fourth show of Paper Mill’s 2013-2014 season which will conclude with Grease! running at the New Jersey venue from May 28th until June 29th!
