Atlantic Theatre Company’s The Three Penny Opera (Photos)
The Three Penny Opera, based off of John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera, has returned to Manhattan! Written by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, the musical tells the story of a well-known scoundrel, Macheath, and his criminal acts in London during the 19th century. However, when he marries Polly Peachum, the daughter of a powerful merchant, chaos erupts! The two set off on a journey of man hunts, robbery, bribes and even a brief stint in prison in this hilarious musical talking about corruption in society. Today, Luner on Theatre brings you a first look at Atlantic Theatre Company’s production of The Three Penny Opera!
