Luner on Theatre has been bringing you coverage of the children’s theatre and mainstage program all summer long! We will continue to bring you coverage up until Upper Darby Summer Stage’s closing day for 2013! But there’s no time to think about all that now! We still got magic to do! Today, Luner on Theatre brings you the coverage of A Year With Frog And Toad TYA this week at Upper Darby Summer Stage!

Upper Darby Summer Stage is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful youth theatre programs. Created by Harry Dietzler in 1976, the program is home to over 700 youth and 100 staff members every summer coming together to create true magic on stage for all ages in the Philadelphia region. Upper Darby Summer Stage is located in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. The program boosts several notable alumni such as Emmy Award winner Tina FeyTerrance J. Nolen (One of the Arden Theatre Company’s Founders), Monica Horan (Everybody Loves Raymond), Alyse Alan Louis (Mamma Mia!), Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar) and the well-known songwriting team Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk.

What is Upper Darby Summer Stage?

1000869_10151725627435606_466801131_nThe fifth production of the Upper Darby Summer Stage children’s theatre season is A Year With Frog And Toad TYA! A Year With Frog And Toad is a musical based off of the series of books under the same title by Arnold Lobel. The musical tells the story of Frog and Toad, two friends who lives only down the road from one another. Surrounded by their friends mouse, lizard, mole and many birds; the story of Frog and Toad takes us on an adventure through the lives of two characters many of us can relate too. The musical tells the story of friendship through the two characters and how no matter what in the end, it survives just about anything and everything.

All children’s theatre productions run 70 minutes in length!

A Year With Frog And Toad is directed by Nick Hunchack and features choreography by Joanne McBride. The show features musical direction by Edward D. Pierson, IVAnnie Halliday is Stage Manager. The show will also features a  scenic design by Jeffrey Fuga, costume design by Jillian Keys , a lighting design by Shelley Hicklin, prop design by Annie Heath and Shannon Powlick and a sound design by Toby Pettit. All shows are under the technical direction of Cat Johnson with Paul Moffitt as production manager. A Year With Frog And Toad at Upper Darby Summer stage is sponsored by Casey’s Restaurant.
