For the week ending July 7th, that production had a total of $972 million in box office gross. The show still plays eight times a week at The Minskoff Theatre located just west of Broadway between 44th and 45th. The Broadway production consistently is ranked within the top five all time grossing shows of the week every single week.

Executive vice president and managing director of Disney Theatrical Productions David Schrader said in a statement:

“After 11 years of touring this theatrical phenomenon, we are tremendously proud to celebrate these milestones with our partners throughout North America who have presented The Lion King with consummate care and a tireless commitment to protecting the vision of the show’s creators. We look forward to many more years of sharing Julie Taymor’s extraordinary artistry with audiences across North America.”

Vice president of Disney Theatrical Productions Jack Eldon said in a statement:

“As we begin our 100th engagement, it is profoundly gratifying to reflect that the domestic touring productions of The Lion King have reached and inspired diverse audiences in so many communities across North America for more than 11 years. We remain overwhelmed by the enduring response to the show and are enormously thankful to our patrons – new and returning – for their continued enthusiasm and support.”
