London Lookout: Viva Forever! Cast Announced

Spice up your life! The new Spice Girls musical Viva Forever! is starting to take shape in the West End now more than ever. After details about the new musical hit the press over the summer, it seems that summer heat has continued right into fall with the English theatre crowd craving more details about this world premiere musical. Those details have finally came in a very large shipment. Luner on Theatre is happy to bring to you today the official casting for the new world premiere Spice Girl’s musical, Viva Forever!

Viva Forever! is a new musical by Jennifer Saunders that will feature about 16 songs of the Spice Girls. The Spice Girls are Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown respectively as Ginger, Baby, Posh, Sporty and Scary. Since our last post, we have received an official statement on the shows plot. According to a new press release; Viva Forever! tells the story of a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today’s TV celebrity culture. As she follows her dream, the musical charts her journey into the world of overnight fame and its impact on her relationships with her mother and the friends she thought she’d have forever. From London to Spain and back again, as they confront the bitter reality of fame and as the world judges her, she and her mother learn to empower themselves and be who they really want to be.

Leading the cast in the mother and daughter roles are Sally Ann Triplett as Lauren and Hannah John-Kamen as Viva. Viva’s friends will be played by Siobhan Athwal as Luce, Lucy Phelps as Diamond and Dominique Provost-Chalkleyas Holly. Two of Lauren’s friends will be played by Lucy Montgomery as Suzi and Simon Slater as Mitch. Other roles include Ben Cura as Angel, the musical director of the TV talent show, and Hatty Preston as a production assistant Minty.  Simon Adkins plays Leon the stylist, and Anthony Topham is Lance the presenter.

The ensemble includes Tom Kanavan, Zak Nemorin, Curtis Angue, Luke Jackson, Oliver Roll, David Rudin, Darren Carnall, Myles Brown, Charlotte Gorton, Rebecca McKinnis,Lucy Thatcher, Roxanne Palmer, Charlotte Walcott, Sophie Carmen-Jones, Carla Nella, Kirstie Skivington and Helen Ternent.

Viva Forever! is scheduled to play The Piccadilly Theatre in London beginning later this year. A new bit of information we have learned are the official beginning dates. Viva Forever! will begin previews in London November 27th, 2012 and will officially open December 11th, 2012.

Lead producer Judy Cramer released the following statement when announcing the cast of the new musical;

We’re very excited to be working with such a fabulous group of actors – not only does the cast include some of the most accomplished performers in British musical theatre, but we’ve discovered some wonderful newcomers as well. The story is not about the Spice Girls but rather a contemporary comedy musical with a funny and clever script by Jennifer, which is charged with all the energy and attitude of the girls themselves.”

Viva Forever! has already begun rehearsals in London and is now working towards their West End and theatrical debut! This is one musical you do not want to miss!
