2012 Drama Desk Award Nominations Announced

More Awards? These aren’t even the last ones! Yes, Luner on Theatre is continuing its coverage today of the 2012 Theatre Awards season with another set of nominations for another group of theatre awards in New York city. We are now though only one final day away from our awards season biggest moment; Tony Award Nominations! However today, Luner on Theatre brings you the nominations for the 2011-2012 theatre season 57th Annual Drama Desk Award Nominations!

The Drama Desk Awards are presented each year to Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off Off-Broadway shows all competing together in a variety of categories. First presented in 1955, the Drama Desk Awards are considered to be some of the most important in theatre being voted on by theatre critics, editors and reporters consisting of over 140 people. The award not only recognizes continious success for people established in the business but also helps to recognize newcomers. The nominations for the 2011-2012 were announced by Brian d’Arcy James and Donna Murphy.
