2012 Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations Announced

Awards, Awards and More Awards! It seems that once the Broadway/Off-Broadway theatre season awards begin coming in they just don’t stop! We are back with our full out awards season coverage bringing you everything you need and want to know about the 2012 theatre awards. Today, Luner on theatre brings you the list of nominations for bothBroadway and Off-Broadway as we present the 2012 Outer Critics Circle Awards nominations.

The Outer Critics Circle Awards were first presented in the 1949-1950 theatre season. These awards are soley decided upon by out of town publications, print and various other media outlets that cover Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre news and reviews. The award categories are very similar to those of The Tony Awards. Lily Rabe and Richard Thomas proudly announced the 2012 nominations at the Friar’s Club in Manhattan

In total, the new Gershwin Broadway musical Nice Work If You Can Get It leads with nine nominations! Disney’s Newsies and Once both fall into second with seven nominations each. Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Evita, Death of a Salesman and Follies all come into third with five each.
