Wagner College Theatre Presents the World Premiere of Goddess Wheel
Come round the Goddess Wheel and experience history tonight. After a year long workshop and creative process to mount a full stage production, the time has finally arrived. Readings, script rewrites and months of work all cumulate into one epic theatrical experience one is not to miss. Tonight, Wagner College Theatre will present the World Premiere of Galt MacDermot’s and Matty Selman’s new musical, Goddess Wheel!
Goddess Wheel is a brand new musical featuring music by Galt MacDermot (Hair) with a book and lyrics by Matty Selman. According to a press release, Goddess Wheel is “Inspired by “Lysistrata,” Aristophanes’ 5th century B.C. Greek comedy, “Goddess Wheel” tells the story of the Peloponnesian War between Sparta and Athens. The women, fed up with the war, decide to withhold sex until the men sign a peace treaty bringing the war to an end.” Oddly enough, Goddess Wheel finds itself at a time right while other Lysistrata spin-offs, such as the Broadway musical Lysistrata Jones, are taking the stage in various locations.
Creative team members for Goddess Wheel includes Wagner College Theatre’s Head of Dance Rusty Curcio as Director. The show features musical direction by James Higgins and Kari Margolis on board as an Acting Coach/Physical Dramaturg. The show features a scenic and lighting design by both Phill Hickox and Vicki Neal. Costume Design is by Alan Michael Smith and Sound Design is by Richard A. Kroth. The show also features a series of projections and multimedia by Tony Brown. The show is stage managed by Lauren Thoma.
The cast for the show is one of the largest to ever work on a Wagner College Theatre production totaling to 45 people in all. The cast list of who is playing what part is below:
