Upper Darby Summer Stage Announces 2012 Season

Hello Everyone! If you’re enjoying this beautiful Spring weather, you are already in the right mind set for Summer 2012! Believe it or not, we are approaching faster and faster to a new summer filled with tons of new theatre coverage brought to you by Luner on Theatre! As you know, one of our main focuses for the summer is Upper Darby Summer Stage. And today, we are here to bring you the news of their 37th season for the Summer of 2012.

Upper Darby Summer Stage is a nationally recognized youth theatre program that was created in 1976 by Harry Dietzler. The program which has grown in its existence has amounted to having over 700 youth take place in the productions and over 100 staff members working on all aspects of the theatre. Last season, Upper Darby Summer Stage had one of its most success seasons yet featuring shows such as Disney’s Camp Rock, Disney’s Mulan Jr, Narnia, Rugrats: A Live Adventure, The Secret Garden, The Dinosaur Musical and Titanic: the Musical.

Upper Darby Summer Stage has placed 1st for the My FOX Philly Best Theatre Group Award for the past 4 years winning in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well.

Each summer, Upper Darby Summer Stage produces six children theatre shows. This year’s line up of shows include:

  • Dora, the Explorer LIVE: Dora’s Pirate Adventure 
  • Tom Sawyer (Most Recent Broadway Edition)
  • Seussical Jr. 
  • Annie Jr. 
  • How I Became A Pirate 
  • A Disney Spectacular

Each summer, Upper Darby Summer Stage also produces one Broadway musical for older teenagers and young adults to take part in. Summer Stage is very happy to announce this year’s Mainstage musical is…
