Wagner College Theatre Presents My Fair Lady
Get Me To The Church On Time! And by that we mean the theatre! Wagner College Theatre is at it again and this time they are on to the classics! From rocking out with Jesus Christ Superstar to now a much more laid back kind of show, the Wagner Theatre season continues and in a totally new direction with this classic theatre production. Wagner College Theatre will proudly present the classic Broadway musical My Fair Lady.
My Fair Lady is a musical based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. The musical features a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story follows Eliza Doolittle as she is transformed from a Cockney flower girl into a high society lady. She does this by taking speech lessons from Henry Higgins. As the story unfolds, we watch as a girl is able to overcome everything throw against her and make her way in society. Of course, a little love story doesn’t hurt too much as well but we’ll let you figure out that one.
The creative team Wagner has put together for this production is quite remarkable for several reasons. The production is directed by the legendary Drew Scott Harris. The teaching choreographer of the production is Lisa Guignard and the rehearsal choreographer is Sara Sheperd. The production is musically directed by Lauri Young. Both Harris and Guignard find major personal ties to this production as they worked on the 25th anniversary of the classic musical on Broadway with Rex Harrison. They also launched the the show in 2005 once again for a nine city tour which Harris directed and Guignard choreographed. So if anyone is meant to be working on this production, its definitely these two.
The cast includes Brian Krinksky as Henry Higgins, Chelsea Vann as Eliza Doolittle, Trevor Sideris as Alfie Doolittle, Paul Emrich as Colonel Pickering, Julia Jones as Mrs. Higgins, Heather Rae Kirshenbauer as Mrs. Pearce, Michael Bullard as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Susanna Gooch as Mrs. Hopkins, Michael D’Amico as Zoltan Karpathy, Matt Sydney as Jamie, Andrew Khouri as Harry and Eric Petillo as Bartender.
