Luner on Theatre’s coverage of Summer Theatre 2011 continues! Ladies and Gentlemen, please help me in welcoming back the Once Upon A Time Players to the blog as we proudly cover their second production for Summer 2011! Follow your heart this weekend to a hilarious production being put together by the Once Upon A Time Players at Washington Crossing’s Open Air Theatre as they proudly present URINETOWN The Musical!
Once Upon A Time Players is a theatre company based out of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2006 by Brendan Stackhouse, the company has grown from producing one show a year to now between six and eight productions annually. This is thier second production for Summer 2011. Luner on Theatre also covered OUATP’s First Production of the Summer SNOOPY!!!
But now we’re in Urinetown! But what is Urinetown? Is it a place? But I thought it said “The Musical”? Check out the following statement about the show:
“One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, URINETOWN catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.”
This production features about 25 performers for the Once Upon A Time Players. Our narrator of the story, Officer Lockstock will be played by Clint Boylan. Leading the revolution himself as trouble maker Bobby Strong is Mike Nappi. And the evil owner against him as the CEO of Urine Good Company as Mr. Cladwell will be played by Ben Cramer. His beautiful daughter caught between her love for Bobby and following daddy’s orders will be played by both Elizabeth Miller and Chiara Trentalange. Little Sally who continuously outsmarts Officer Lockstock and questions the very play that she is in will be played by Chelsea Robinson. Penny Pennywise, one of the poorest people in town who works for the company, will be played by Sammi Cohen.
Other parts include Chris Cherin as Senator Fipp, Phil DellaNoce as Officer Barrel, Valerie Glerum as Mrs. Millenium, Thomas Randby as Dr. Billeaux, Tom DeMichele as Mr. McQueen, Cassie West as Girl Cop, Brian Dratch as Hot Blades Harry, Caity MacNeill as Little Becky Two Shoes, Elana Abt as Josephine Strong, Julia Pfender as Soupy Sue, John Alati as Tiny Tom, Ryan Wagner as Old Man Strong, Amy Bishop as Robby the Stockfish and Ryan Carlin as Billy Boy Bill. Ensemble members include Lily Dwoskin, Kristin Schrier, Ally Dossick and Alexis Federman.
