Wagner College Theatre Announces 2011-2012 Season
Another fantastic season is set in the works for next year at Wagner College as the top notch theatre program has announced their plans for the 2011-2012 season which reins from a classic Broadway musical to a world premiere production.
Wagner College is a private liberal arts college located in Grymes Hill on Staten Island in New York City. The college is known for its renown theatre program which each year ranks within the Top 5 Best College Theatre Programs in the nation via The Princeton Review. The program has graduated plenty of alumni that annually go on to work in regional theatres, on nation tours, Off-Broadway and Broadway. The college has a Main Stage Theatre which seats around 500 people and a small black box theatre (Stage One) which seats around 100. The current season in the Main Stage features: Cinderella, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and Seussical the Musical. The current Stage One season features: Burn This, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Loose Knit and The Dance Project.

As for the 2011-2011 season, the following shows have been announced for the Main Stage Theatre:
- Jesus Christ Superstar
- My Fair Lady
- Goddess Wheel (World Premiere)
If you’re wondering what Goddess Wheel is all about, it is a new musical which will be making its world premiere at Wagner College. It is written by Hair’s Galt MacDermot and takes the story of Lysistrata in a contemporary style. Interesting! Right?
The following shows have been announced for the Stage One Studio:
- TBA (The first slot show has not been decided upon yet)
- The Dance Project
- Tennessee Williams One Acts
