Wagner College Presents Seussical the Musical

Oh the thinks you can think as the many stories of Dr. Seuss come to life in a family fun musical for theatre lovers of all ages as Wagner College Theatre proudly presents Seussical the Musical!

Seussical is a musical (HA!) that takes the various stories of Dr. Seuss and combines it into a family fun musical for people of all ages. The musical features a book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The musical focuses on a JoJo, the mayors son, as his thinks consistently getting him in trouble the entire show. Pushing along all the trouble is the good ole’ Cat in the Hat who pushes JoJo to think of things never thought of before! The musical also focuses on Horton the Elephant who struggles to save a small world while Gertrude McFuzz fights for Horton’s attention and overall love. Wrapping it all up are all your favorite characters from the Dr. Seuss books such as Mayzie LaBird, The Grinch, Wickersham brothers, bird girls and one fiesty sour kangaroo.

The musical played on Broadway from November 30th, 2000 till May 20th, 2001 after playing 198 performances and 34 previews. The musical used today through out educational institutions, tours and in regional theatres is completely different then the original script and score used on Broadway.

Michele Pawk, Tony Award Winner and Wagner’s newest faculty member directs the show after having starred in the original production on Broadway as Mayzie LaBird. Scott Rink choreographs the thrilling show which just seems to overall never stop ending or moving as we travel from story to story. Joe Gourley is on board to set design while Vicki Neal will light the piece as the lighting designer. Alan Michael Smith is set to costume design the piece.
