Wagner College Presents Smokey Joe’s Cafe

Sit back, relax and prepare to enjoy a show celebrating the music of two of America’s most influential composers as Wagner College Theatre proudly presents Smokey Joe’s Cafe: The Songs Of Leiber And Stoller.

Smokey Joe’s Cafe is a musical revue showcasing 39 pop songs ranging from rock n’ roll to rhythm and blues celebrating the music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Smokey Joe’s Cafe originally opened on Broadway on March 2, 1995 at the Virginia Theatre (Known currently as The August Wilson Theatre) and closed on January 16, 2000 running for a total of 2,036 performances. While the revue did not receive the best reviews, time showed the strength of the show despite the fact that a central story around the show is not existent.

The show features such classic songs as “There Goes My Baby”, “Stand By Me”, “Spanish Harlem”, “Jailhouse Rock” and Yakety Yak/Charlie Brown.
